Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of gawk installed on the remote host is prior to 4.0.2-4. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-2357 advisory.

- A heap out-of-bounds read flaw was found in builtin.c in the gawk package. This issue may lead to a crash and could be used to read sensitive information. (CVE-2023-4156)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
